By Diana Rattray, About.com

A family spaghetti sauce from Sandy. Freeze some of this sauce for another day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 or 3 pounds hamburger (lean ground beef)
  • 2 large onions, minced
  • stalks with leaves of celery, diced small (I use 3 or 4 stalks)
  • 6 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 small cans tomato sauce & each can filled with water
  • 1 small can tomato paste also filled with water
  • 2 Tblsp chili powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • mushrooms optional

Preparation:

Brown hamburger and onions and drain. Put in slow cooker along with the rest of the ingredients and cook on low 8 to 10 hours.
Sandy's Note: My mom always cooked this on top of the stove for 4 or 5 hours, but I like the slow cooker method.
