Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced, or 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf sage, crumbled
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 2 to 3 pounds boneless pork loin, trimmed and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
- salt to taste
Preparation:
In slow cooker combine chopped onion, garlic, apples, sugar, sage, and pepper. Coat pork cubes with flour and add to slow cooker. Pour in wine. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 9 hours. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and whipping cream. Turn slow cooker to HIGH and pour into pork mixture; cook for 15 to 20 minutes longer. Season to taste with salt. Serve with cornmeal biscuits or cornbread.
