A Boston butt, contrary to the way it sounds, is actually a pork shoulder cut. This easy pork shoulder recipe is made with purchased barbecue sauce and basic seasonings. Serve this delicious roast shredded, on buns, with coleslaw and fries or chips.
Ingredients:
- Boston Butt Roast (pork shoulder)
- 1/4 cup of water
- Salt and pepper lightly
- BBQ sauce you desire
Preparation:
Place the pork shoulder in the crock pot or slow cooker with water, salt and pepper. Cover and cook on LOW for 9 to 10 hours.
About 1 to 2 hours before serving, drain off excess liquids, shred meat and remove fat; pour a little barbecue sauce on the meat. Continue cooking for 1 to 2 hours longer. Serve the shredded barbecued pork with buns, with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
