Spicy Swiss Steak

Ingredients:

1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 pounds beef round steak about 1 inch thick
1/3 cup flour
3 tablespoons oil
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cups chopped tomatoes, fresh or canned, peeled

Preparation:

Cut steak into serving-size pieces. Rub salt, allspice, and pepper into steak. Dredge meat with flour. Place portions between pieces of plastic wrap and pound in flour with a meat mallet. Heat oil in a heavy skillet and brown quickly over medium high heat. Place meat in slow cooker with remaining ingredients. Cook on low for 7 to 9 hours.
Serves 4 to 6.
