Easy Crockpot Swiss Steak


An easy crockpot Swiss steak, made with tomatoes or cream of mushroom soup.


  • 2 pounds round or Swiss steak, cut about 3/4 inch thick
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 (approx. 15 ounces) can diced or stewed tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Cut round steak into serving-size pieces; season with salt and pepper and place in slow cooker with sliced onion. Pour tomatoes over beef and onions. Cover cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours.

For Creamy Swiss Steak, follow the above directions, substituting 1 (10 3/4 ounces) can condensed cream of mushroom soup for the the tomatoes. Spread soup evenly over the top.

Cynthia's Notes: I use a 5 to 6 qt slow cooker/Crock Pot and I always double this and freeze leftovers for another meal. I usually serve with mashed potatoes and a side dish of green beans!
