Island Barbecued Turkey Legs

Turkey legs make a great budget meal, and they're easy to prepare in the slow cooker. Serve these turkey legs with rice or potatoes and your choice of side vegetable for a satisfying everyday meal.

Ingredients:

  • 4 to 6 turkey legs
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 5 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
  • 1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, well drained
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

Preparation:

Lightly grease the crockery liner of the slow cooker. Arrange the turkey legs in the slow cooker and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Combine the remaining ingredients; spoon over the turkey legs and turn to coat legs well. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 9 hours.
Serves 4 to 6.

Cooked in the crock pot for about 2 hours. Felt that the crock pot was too small so I transferred to the oven for the remaining time in another dish. Cooked at 200 degrees for another 4-5 hours. The meal was beyond excellent. I didn't think this dish needed additional spices. My teens enjoyed this dish and they are picky eaters. My husband also enjoy his turkey leg as well. Recommend one turkey leg per person unless you are a big eater.
