This is a flavorful side dish, and it's easy to fix in the slow cooker. Serve this alongside pork roast or sausages for a tasty everyday meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 medium red cabbage, about 2 1/2 pounds, coarsely chopped
- 1 can (16 ounces) whole berry cranberry sauce
- 1 large onion, quartered and sliced
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, coarsely chopped
- 1/2 cup apple juice or cider
- 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme or caraway seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Dash allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons red wine vinegar or port wine vinegar
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 7 hours.
