This is a flavorful side dish, and it's easy to fix in the slow cooker. Serve this alongside pork roast or sausages for a tasty everyday meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium red cabbage, about 2 1/2 pounds, coarsely chopped
  • 1 can (16 ounces) whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1 large onion, quartered and sliced
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup apple juice or cider
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme or caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Dash allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons red wine vinegar or port wine vinegar
