Lemon Sauce


More dessert sauces for ice cream and pudding below. Use this sauce over ice cream, gingerbread, or pudding.

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • juice of 2 lemons, about 4 to 6 tablespoons
  • grated lemon zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon butter


Directions for lemon sauce.
In a saucepan, combine egg, sugar, lemon juice and lemon zest; cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Add butter; stir until butter is melted. Serve over gingerbread, pound cake, or bread pudding. Makes about 1 1/2 cups of lemon sauce.
