Coffee Marinated Flank Steak

Flank steak is marinated in a flavorful mixture of coffee, oil, vinegar, and garlic, along with mustard and other seasonings. Grill this flank steak and serve with your favorite salads and grilled vegetables.

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Total Time: 12 minutes

Yield: 4 Servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strong black coffee
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, mashed and minced
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard or similar brown mustard
  • 2 teaspoons coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 flank steak, about 2 pounds

Preparation:

Combine the coffee, olive oil, vinegar, garlic, mustard, pepper, soy sauce, brown sugar, and green onions. Pour into a large food storage bag and add the steak. Turn to coat the steak thoroughly and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours, turning occasionally.

Discard the marinade and grill the steak over direct heat for 4 to 6 minutes on each side for medium rare. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes, then slice thinly on the diagonal across the grain.

Serves 4.
