Ingredients:
- 1 cup strong black coffee
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, mashed and minced
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard or similar brown mustard
- 2 teaspoons coarsely ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 flank steak, about 2 pounds
Preparation:
Combine the coffee, olive oil, vinegar, garlic, mustard, pepper, soy sauce, brown sugar, and green onions. Pour into a large food storage bag and add the steak. Turn to coat the steak thoroughly and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours, turning occasionally.
Discard the marinade and grill the steak over direct heat for 4 to 6 minutes on each side for medium rare. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes, then slice thinly on the diagonal across the grain.
