Big Batch Chocolate Fudge

A homemade old-fashioned fudge, made with sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and chocolate chips, along with marshmallow and walnuts or pecans.

Ingredients:

4 cups granulated sugar
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) evaporated milk
1 cup butter
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips, 2 cups
16 ounces marshmallow creme
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans

Preparation:

Butter the sides of a heavy 3-quart saucepan. Add sugar, evaporated milk, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture reaches the soft ball stage, about 236° on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients. Beat until chocolate is melted and blended. Pour into a buttered 13x9-inch baking pan. Cool slightly, score, then cool completely and cut into squares.
