Sesame Chicken

This sesame chicken recipe is made with chicken pieces or quartered chickens, soy sauce, garlic, and other ingredients. Marinate this chicken in the delicious mixture then cook on the grill. This Asian-flavored sesame chicken is wonderful with a rice dish or pilaf and asparagus or other vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons onion, minced
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant minced garlic
  • 6 to 7 pounds chicken parts, or 2 broiler chickens

Preparation:

Combine soy sauce, water, vegetable oil, onion, cauenne pepper, sesame seeds, sugar, salt, and minced garlic. If using whole chickens, cut into quarters; pour the sesame mixture over the chicken pieces and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours. I use large food storage bags to marinate.

Remove the chicken and reserve the marinade. Put marinade in a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil. Grill chicken over medium coals until done, using the reserved boiled marinade as basting sauce. The chicken should register about 175° on an instant read thermometer when inserted in a meaty section (not touching bone).

Serves 6 to 8.

This is such a great, easy and healthy recipe! The only thing is because the soya-sauce is really strong, i actually added a 1/2 cup of water and only a 1/4 cup of oil. I also added some carrots with it too... :) All in all it was a good choice.
