By Diana Rattray, About.com

Flavorful Salisbury steaks are cooked under the broiler.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices bacon, finely diced
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground round
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green or red bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, or 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Preparation:

Mix bacon with ground round, onion, green or red bell pepper, parsley, salt, and pepper. Shape mixture into 6 oval patties, about 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick.

Place patties on a broiler pan which has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Broil about 4 inches from heat for about 10 minutes; turn and broil the other side for about 10 minutes longer, or until meat is no longer pink.
Salisbury steaks serve 6. Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
