Beef and Beans with Biscuits


Prepared refrigerated biscuits make this beef and bean casserole a snap to put together, and it makes a hearty family meal with a tossed salad or coleslaw.


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 can (16 ounces) pork and beans
  • 2/3 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 can refrigerator biscuits
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese


Brown ground beef in skillet; pour off excess fat. Add salt, pork and beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and onion; heat until hot and bubbling. Pour beef and bean mixture into a 2-quart baking dish. Separate biscuits; cut in half. Place biscuits, cut side down, around edge of casserole. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
Serves 4.
