Beans and hot dogs make a tasty and budget-friendly meal, and the slow cooker makes them extra-easy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large can (28 ounces) pork and beans
  • 1 can (approx 15 ounces) great northern beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 can (approx 15 ounces) black beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 green or red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or molasses
  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 package (about 8) hot dogs
