Beans and hot dogs make a tasty and budget-friendly meal, and the slow cooker makes them extra-easy.
Ingredients:
- 1 large can (28 ounces) pork and beans
- 1 can (approx 15 ounces) great northern beans, drained, rinsed
- 1 can (approx 15 ounces) black beans, drained, rinsed
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 green or red bell pepper, chopped
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or molasses
- 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 package (about 8) hot dogs
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients except hot dogs in a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker. Cut hot dogs into 1 to 2-inch lengths and stir into the bean mixture. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours.
