Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds fresh or frozen thawed fish fillets
  • 2 tablespoons steak sauce
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil

Preparation:

Mix cornmeal and flour together. Rub fish fillets all over with salt, pepper, and the steak sauce. Roll in the flour and cornmeal mixture. Heat oil in skillet until very hot, about 370°. Brown fillets for about 2 minutes on each side. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for about 4 to 6 minutes longer, depending on thickness of fish. Fish should flake easily with a fork. Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce, if desired.
