Sauteed Mushrooms With Sage

A variety of sliced mushrooms makes this dish more interesting, but feel free to use button mushrooms and/or baby bellas if that's what you have. The sage and butter combine to give them a fabulous earthy flavor.

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: Serves 4


  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms, mixed, baby bellas, or button mushrooms
  • 12 medium to large sage leaves
  • salt and pepper, to taste


In a large skillet over medium-low heat, melt butter. Add mushrooms and sage. Cook, stirring frequently, until mushrooms are golden brown and tender, about 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve as a first course, appetizer, or side dish.
Serves 4 as a side dish.
