Oatmeal Cookies

A recipe for oatmeal cookies with a few variations - add your own special fruit or candy to these oatmeal cookies.

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 cups quick cooking oats

Preparation:

Heat oven to 350°. Place shortening, butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla in mixing bowl; beat well. Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg; add to first mixture. Mix thoroughly. Stir in oats. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.
