Ingredients:

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup water
  • perfect pecan halves or walnut halves

Preparation:

Combine ingredients in a saucepan, stirring as the mixture heats. When sugar has dissolved, wipe away sugar crystals that form on the sides of the pan, then cook without stirring until it threads crisply when dropped from a spoon. Using a long sharp pin or other suitable utensil, immediately dip pecan halves in the mixture. Set on buttered waxed paper to cool and harden.
