Sourdough Pie Crust

This pie is baked over a campfire.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons shortening, softened
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Preparation:

Knead together first 5 ingredients; add water. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. Roll out and place in a pie plate. Bake on a rack in a Dutch oven over an open fire. For an unfilled pie shell, cover and bake for about 8 minutes.
