Pork Chops with Milk Gravy

These skillet pork chops are seasoned, browned, then simmered in a milk gravy. Serve these tender, flavorful chops with mashed potatoes and peas or greens.

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 4 pork chops
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups water, divided
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk


Combine flour and salt and seasoned salt in a wide bowl or pie plate. Dredge pork chops in seasoned flour, reserving remaining seasoned flour for the gravy. Brown chops on both sides in a large skillet in hot oil. Add 1/2 cup water; cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until tender. Remove pork chops to a serving platter; keep warm.

Drain off all but 2 tablespoons of drippings. Add 2 tablespoons of reserved seasoned flour to the drippings; blend until smooth. Combine milk and remaining 1/4 cup of water; add to flour mixture, stirring until smooth. Continue cooking over low heat until milk gravy is smooth and thickened. Serve gravy with pork chops. Pork chops recipe serves 4.

Measurements Need Correction, Member HeySally13

This is one of my favorite gravy recipes; however, the above recipe has a measurement error that needs attention. The recipe calls for 1 1/4 cups water divided. In the directions it only calls for 3/4cup. When you add milk and water , the water should amount to 3/4 not the 1/4 cup that is called for. Thanks for posting :)
