Recipe for baked spareribs with onions and a homemade barbecue sauce.


  • 4 lbs spare ribs
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup water


Cut racks into serving-size pieces. Sprinkle spareribs with salt and pepper. Place in roaster pan; cover with onions. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over ribs. Cover pan with foil and bake at 350 ° for about 1 1/2 hours. Baste occasionally and turn spareribs a few times. Remove cover last 15 minutes to brown ribs.
Serves 4 to 6.

The ribs were fantastic. My husband is diabetic so the sauce was very good because it doesn't have any sugar in it. He just loved them.
