Old Fashioned Raisin Pudding

This is an old fashioned raisin pudding recipe.

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup raisins
  • pinch salt
  • 5 cups boiling water
  • .
  • Batter:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch salt

Preparation:

Combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer while preparing batter. Cream 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons butter. Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Drop by spoonfuls into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan, making about 15 batter dumplings. Carefully pour hot raisin sauce mixture over the batter. Bake at 350° for about 45 minutes. Sauce will thicken during baking.
Serve raisin pudding warm or cold with whipped cream or whipped topping.
