Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup raisins

- 5 cups boiling water

- Batter:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- pinch salt
Preparation:
Combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer while preparing batter. Cream 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons butter. Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Drop by spoonfuls into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan, making about 15 batter dumplings. Carefully pour hot raisin sauce mixture over the batter. Bake at 350° for about 45 minutes. Sauce will thicken during baking.Serve raisin pudding warm or cold with whipped cream or whipped topping.
