Lilly's Pulled Pork and Beef

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound beef cubes (I use a lean steak)
  • 1 pound boneless pork chops, center cut, or other trimmed pork, cubed
  • 32 ounces ketchup
  • 1/2 to 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • few dashes hot sauce, optional

"Thanks for posting this Lilly. My mom made something similar, about once a year growing up, no rhyme or reason that I recall for the occasion. When I asked recently how to make it she said something like 'use cheap cuts, about 1/3 beef to 2/3 pork, cook it at 300 until if falls apart and add some ketchup, salt and pepper"". The result of this stunningly simple recipe is... stunningly good. I'm sure Lilly's is worth a little extra effort."
