Scalloped potatoes with creamy sauce

Creamy Scalloped Potatoes

Feel free to top these tasty scalloped potatoes with a little Cheddar cheese the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking time.


  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cups milk
  • 6 cups thinly sliced potatoes


In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat; stir in flour until smooth and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Gradually add milk, stirring until thick and bubbly. Add sliced potatoes to the sauce. Cover and simmer over low heat for 8 minutes.

Transfer mixture to a greased 12x8-inch baking dish. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 45 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
Scalloped potatoes serves 6 to 8.
