Hamburger Noodle Skillet

Serve this easy, flavorful skillet dish with a simple vegetable salad and crusty rolls or biscuits.

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • dash pepper
  • 3 cups noodles, uncooked

Preparation:

In a large heavy skillet, cook bacon until crisp; drain, crumble, and set aside. Add onion to the bacon drippings; cook until tender. Add ground beef and brown. Stir in tomatoes, green bell pepper, chili sauce, salt, and a dash of pepper. Add the uncooked noodles. Cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes, or until noodles are tender.

Serves 4.

Great weeknight dinner, Member n2nicole

We really liked this...I think the chili sauce adds a little unexpected flavor. It is easy to make with what you have on hand. I didn't take the bacon out...just cooked it first, then added onions to it. Drained after the ground beef cooked. Also, I wasn't sure the noodles had enough liquid so I added about 1/2 cup of water before leaving to cook. After about 20 minutes they were tender. I am adding this to my ""I've got a pound of ground beef, what am I going to do with it?"" file!
