Slow Cooker Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

This big batch of sloppy Joe sandwiches will be a hit at children's parties.

  • 3 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped, about 1 cup
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 (12 ounces) bottle prepared chili sauce
  • 1 (6 ounces) can tomato paste
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar, to taste
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • toasted sandwich buns


In large deep skillet or Dutch Oven, brown ground beef with onions, celery and green pepper; drain off fat. Place ground beef mixture in crockpot and stir in chili sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust seasonings. Serve Sloppy Joes on toasted sandwich buns. Makes about 20 sandwiches, great for a party.

I've made this recipie several times, and it's great! I'm planning on making it again for dinner the Friday after Thanksgiving, because it's easy to make and everyone in the family really likes it. Thanks for sharing!
