Elvis Presley's Favorite Dishes

Down-Home Southern Recipes Elvis Would Have Enjoyed

By

Elvis Aron Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in a small house in Tupelo, Mississippi. He eventually captured the hearts and souls of millions worldwide through his music and personality. August 16 is the anniversary of his death in 1977, and thousands of fans will journey to Memphis, Tennessee to view his Graceland home and participate in planned events. Many will go on to visit his birthplace in Tupelo, about 90 miles away.

Here are some recipes and dishes Elvis surely grew up with, along with some of his purported favorites.

This is a flavorful sauce, on the sweet side. Add the lower amounts of sugar and molasses if you like your sauce a little less sweet. You can always add more while you're simmering the sauce.

Elvis reportedly loved the sandwich combination of peanut butter and bananas. This quick bread combines both flavors.
