Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef
- 3 to 4 Italian sausages
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 5 cups marinara sauce or prepared basic spaghetti sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1/4 cup minced parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried leaf basil, crumbled
- 1 small bay leaf
- hot cooked spaghetti
- Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
In a Dutch oven, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, and onion until meat is browned. Slice sausages and return to Dutch oven. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute longer. Spoon off fat; add the Marinara sauce, tomatoes, water, tomato paste, parsley, basil, and bay leaf. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 to 45 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Serve with hot cooked spaghetti and pass the Parmesan cheese.
