Ginger Cupcakes with Molasses and Spices

Recipe for ginger cupcakes and other cup cake recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Preparation:

Heat molasses, sugar, shortening, ginger, and cinnamon to boiling, stirring constantly. Cool to lukewarm. Sift soda and flour together. Add to cooked mixture alternately with sour milk and eggs. Bake in paper cupcake liners in cupcake tins at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
Makes about 16 cupcakes. Frost as desired.
