Yield: Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 1 to 1 1/2 pound thin-cut round steaks or sirloin tip steaks
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
- chopped cilantro or parsley, for garnish, optional
Preparation:
In a glass or stainless steel bowl combine the steaks with the lemon juice, soy sauce, pepper, sugar, and garlic. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Heat half of the oil in a large skillet. Fry the sliced onion until softened and lightly browned; transfer to a serving platter. Add the remaining oil to the skillet and cook the steaks until nicely browned, about 2 minutes on each side. Add the marinade to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 2 minutes. Pour over the steaks and garnish with parsley or cilantro, if desired. Serve with rice and your choice of vegetables or a green salad.
Serves 3 to 4.
