Maple Brown Sugar Cookies

Maple cookie recipe made with brown sugar and crisp rice cereal.

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring
  • 1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups crisp rice cereal

Preparation:

Cream shortening, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in egg and maple flavoring.

Sift together the flour, salt, and soda; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in cereal. Drop from teaspoons, 2 inches apart, onto greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes about 36 cookies.
