Candied Sweet Potatoes

Candied Sweet Potatoes

These sweet potatoes are cooked with a brown sugar and butter sauce. Feel free to add a little cinnamon for spiced sweet potatoes.


  • 4 medium sweet potatoes
  • salt
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter


Cook sweet potatoes until tender. Peel, halve, and sprinkle with salt. In skillet mix sugar with water and butter; bring to a boil. Put potatoes in syrup and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are well glazed and candied.
Serves 4.

Candied Sweet Potatoes, Member 8122

I have been making these for years and they are excellent. My daughter came home from college and said she had candied sweet potatoes at her sorority Thanksgiving dinner & they were so good that I should make them. I informed her that I had been making them for years, but she never would try them. Now they are her favorite part of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. 5+ stars. ENJOY!!
