Swiss Tuna Bake


Tuna recipes is made with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, bread, and eggs.

  • 2 cans (6 1/2 or 7 ounces each) tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 4 ounces mushrooms, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Swiss cheese, divided
  • 6 slices bread, crusts removed
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • dash hot pepper sauce


Flake tuna in a large bowl. Add chopped green onions, mushrooms, dill, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 cup of the shredded Swiss cheese; blend well. Butter a shallow, 2-quart baking dish (about 11x7-inch) with a flat bottom. Arrange bread slices over bottom of baking dish. Spoon tuna mixture over bread. Beat eggs with milk, Worcestershire sauce, pepper sauce and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt; pour mixture over tuna. Sprinkle top with remaining 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese. Cover and chill for 2 hours. Remove from refrigerator and leave at room temperature for 30 minutes. Bake at 325° for about 1 hour, or until the tip of knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Tuna Bake Serves 6.
