Macaroni and Tuna Casserole


A vintage tuna casserole recipe with macaroni.

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 can (7 ounces) tuna
  • 1/3 cup chopped dill pickle
  • 1/4 cup chopped pimiento
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten


Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain. Melt butter; add flour and seasonings, stirring until smooth. Gradually add milk and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add macaroni and remaining ingredients; mix well. Place in a greased loaf pan and bake at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes.

Serves 4 to 6.
