Ingredients:
- 1 can (9 to 12 ounces) chunk white tuna
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
- 5 slices bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes, divided
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 to 2 tablespoons melted butter
Preparation:
Combine tuna, cottage cheese, and half of the bread cubes. Reserve remaining cubes for topping. Spread tuna mixture in bottom of a greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish or 4 individual 1-cup casseroles or au gratin dishes In saucepan melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium low heat; stir in flour and paprika until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly over medium low heat, until thickened. Add cheese. Continue heating, stirring constantly, until cheese melts. Pour sauce over tina mixture and top with reserved bread cubes. Drizzle with the 1 to 2 tablespoons melted butter. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Serves 4.
