Cook Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 6 loin veal chops
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 cup cracker meal or fine dry bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 4 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon Hungarian paprika
- 1 small bay leaf
- 1 can condensed tomato soup
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Preparation:
Whisk together the egg and milk; dip chops in mixture, then dredge with cracker meal or bread crumbs.
2 to 3 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown chops in oil; turn to brown both sides then remove to a shallow casserole. Add butter to skillet; add onion and mushrooms and brown lightly. Top chops with the browned mushrooms and onions. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over all. Bake at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes, until chops are tender.
