Ingredients:
- pastry for one crust 9-inch pie
- 2 cans (3-oz. size) French fried onions
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Generous dash cayenne
- dash pepper
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
Preparation:
Line pie pan with pastry and crimp edges. Preheat oven to 425°. Spread onions over pastry in pie pan. In small bowl whisk eggs with milk, salt and pepper. Pour egg-milk mixture over onions. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 425°. for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350° and bake 15 to 20 minutes longer, or until filling is set. Cool slightly before cutting to serve.French onion pie serves 6.
