Bread Machine Cajun Bread

This flavorful bread machine loaf is made with Cajun seasonings and chopped onion and bell pepper.


  • 1 1/2-Pound Loaf:
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, chopped finely
  • 1 tablespoon butter, soft
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun or Creole seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt (use about 1 1/4 teaspoons if your Cajun seasoning is salt-free)
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1-Pound Loaf:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, chopped finely
  • 2 teaspoons butter, soft
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun or Creole seasoning
  • scant 1/2 teaspoon salt (use about 3/4 teaspoon if your Cajun seasoning is salt-free)
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast


Measure all ingredients into machine according to manufacturer's directions for adding ingredients. Select basic/white bread cycle. Use medium or dark crust color. (Do not use delay cycles) Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.

Yummy BBQ accompaniment, Member Trix_Schutte

I made this bread as a side dish for a barbeque and it went down very well. Even I who am not to fond of spicy things thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the left over bread the next day with some good cheddar. The coolest thing about this bread is that the next day its still a soft bread, and the fresh bell peppers and onions in the bread really give it its oomph. Loved it and will definitely make it again.
