Queen Cake

Recipe for a queen cake, with more white and yellow cake recipes below.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk

Preparation:

Beat together shortening, salt and vanilla. Add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour and baking powder together 3 times. Add small amounts of flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth. Pour batter into two greased and floured 8-inch layer pans. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Frost as desired.
