Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- pinch salt
Preparation:
Beat in egg until blended.
In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Beating slowly, add about 1/3 of the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, along with half of the milk. Repeat with another 1/3 of the dry mixture and the remaining milk, then add the remaining dry mixture, beating thoroughly.
Pour into a greased and floured 8-inch or 9-inch square baking pan. Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes, until firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with only a few crumbs clinging. Serve with dessert sauce.
