Im anxious to taste this cake as a celebratory opening to the Fall season! 3 Large Golden delicious filled my 9"" square pan, so I opted for a 9x13 pan. I too used more cinnamon, based on a previous review (in fact, I didn't even measure - I just shook it out until it looked good). I also don't think ""beating"" the egg/sugar/butter mixture alternatively with the milk and flour mixture requires an electric mixer - especially since it says to ""beat until just mixed"" - I used a handheld electric mixer on the lowest setting and i think that was overkill. It was a pretty easy recipe to follow otherwise. I am currently baking so will report back on how this turned out. Im very excited!

This was very simple to make (my four year old daughter helped me make it) and came out beautifully . . . caramel-cinnamon-apples over a light, fluffy little cake. We followed the recipe closely, although used more cinnamon than the recipe called for.

This cake came out delicious!! Moist and just the right amount of sweetness. Followed the recipe to a tee and it came out great! My family loved it.

So good the kids asked for more!!!May 17, 2009 By summer11174
Wow ... I know the kids love cake but this cake with the apples and sauce on top seemed to make the kids dive right in. The kids actually finished off the plate .... then even asked when I was going to make more. Typically it's thanks mom, loved it. Yet this time they just couldn't seem to get enough. This is definately a recipe I know I'll be making many many more times.

After reading the reviews, I expected a phenomenal cake. The topping was good; the cake was rather bland and dry. I wouldn't make it again. Perhaps some applesauce added to the batter would make it more moist and add some flavor.

I made this with apples from the backyard. I will play with the recipe to come up with a 2 layer round version. The apple and sugar layer that becomes the top is just what you need on top of the cake portion. I will be making this again for friends.
