let me say one thing: i am a chocolate ADDICT, but this is easily the best dessert i have ever made!! this is incredible...my first time ever to make homemade banana bread! i left out the nuts because i didnt have any and i halved the recipe. also i like my breads and cakes moist so i waited until the knife was almost clean and took it out of the oven. also i lowered the heat to about 275 towards the end of cooking it. drizzle a little bit of melted butter on it and you will have one heck of a mouthgasm!

I made this early one morning when my sister in law was coming over to study before we went to class. I had never made Banana Nut Bread before but everyone loved it, (my sister, mother and friends). It is now a family favorite. I did change it slightly I added applesauce for moisture.

I had never made banana bread before, I had some over ripe bananas and found this recipe. I cut the recipe in half but still used the 6 bananas. My family loved it! Very bananery, very easy, and very delicious!

This is a delicious and moist banana bread. I excluded the nuts because I have a digestive issue with them. I love them, they don't love me! But this bread is awesome without them. It is very easy to make. If any lasts until day 2, I warm it up in the microwave for about 8 seconds and add just a tad of butter and it's like eating it fresh out of the oven again. I agree - use the oldest bananas you have. Not only are they easy to mash but they do have an outstanding flavor. This bread doesn't last long that's for sure!!!!

I liked this banana nut bread. It was very good. I tried several other recipes before this one and this was the best. I modified it slightly to add my own flare. I did 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar and added 1 tbsp of vanilla. I love it and I am making 17 loaves in the next few days to give out for Christmas.
5 out of 5Finally, a simply but great recipeOctober 27, 2010

I've tried many recipes. This one was so easy and simple but turned out great. I substituted veg oil for the butter. I was wondering why it had no vanilla as many other recipes do. No matter, both loaves came out great. Note to those w/a conv. oven. I baked at 300 for 1 hr and bread came out perfect.

This bread was sooo yummy!! The only thing different that I did was add a little cinnamon sugar mixture to the top for a little crunch. So moist! Give me a slice of this with a little butter on it and a tall glass of milk and I will be one happy woman! :)

I made this recipe but for muffins, and inplace for baking soda, salt, and flour I used Bisquik, and they turned out FANTASTIC. They are very moist, bananay, and nutty. I highly suggest you try this :)

This is a wonderful recipe and so easy to make! Sometimes I substitute walnuts for pecans and for an extra flavor I add a cup of blueberries. You can also make muffins which are delicious. Just bake the muffins for 30-35 minutes. YUM!

I made the recipe just like it read except I do not have a sifter and I only had 4 bananas. It still turned out great. The top of the bread came out a little crunchy and kinda carmelized the sugar. The inside was moist just like the recipe said it would be. We put a little butter on it and it tasted great!!!! I recommend this recipe to ev1! :)

This was my very first time making a banana bread and it was the best thing I have made so far, I loved it. I halfed the recipe, did not take as long to bake though and I had to lower the oven to 200, but it was moist almost like a cake and so delicious, not to sweet and just the right amount of everything.

This banana nut bread recipe was so easy! I halved it, and found the recipe to be very easy to follow. The bake time turned out to be less than recommended, so watch your ovens. But the bread was delicious! I'll definitely make this again.

i love checking out others reviews for helpful hints. i would like to share a couple of mine: i experimented with a few things, like real butter vs margarine +room temp butter and eggs vs cold + bread flour mixed with all purpose vs only all purpose. i have to say that both were very good, but my first choices combined to make a really excellent taste and texture. (real butter, room temp, bread flour.) also, i like nuts and dried cranberries, so those get thrown in. chocolate chips are good to add, too. and if you have loaf pans, i think it is better in that. regular cake pans are fine, though. happy cooking!

I loved this recipe. So easy and delicious. I too substituted walnuts instead of pecans just for personal preference as I think it tastes better, even though that is not how my mother used to make it. Sorry mom!

I halved the recipe to make just one loaf. I also used walnuts instead of pecans. Came out so great! A nice little crust on top and super soft and moist on the inside. Perfect way to use those over ripe bananas.
5 out of 5Delicious Whole Wheat Banana Walnut Bread...!!!May 30, 2009
By ctsidney
Out of all the recipes in Google, I opened this one because the link read Southern Foods... it had to be good, and it was easy and I had all the ingredients in the house already. We had green bananas and by the time we waited for them to get ripe...they were too soft to eat. My husband wanted to toss them out. I told him I'd make bread. I used Whole Wheat Flour, no sifter; but I mixed it slowly into the sugar/egg/butter batter, and used a hand mixer. I put the batter into 2 6-mini Bunt pans. at 30 minutes my husband walked into the kitchen and said it smells like it's time. They are beautiful, perfect & umm, umm delicious. Thanks Diana
2 out of 5Banana Nut Bread DissapointmentJuly 08, 2008
By terrileaburton
I bought a loaf of banana nut bread at a church bake sale last week. It was so moist it would stick to a fork and you could see flecks of banana through it. I tried this recipe, it turned out beautifully, like a picture but it was dry like a stale loaf of bread. The flavor is good but what did I do wrong to lose all the moisture? Please help. Thanks

I liked this recipe because it seemed basic and sensible. However, as I followed it, I found myself doing things my own way. I used whole wheat flour instead of refined flour because it is healthier. I used only 3/4 stick of butter for the same reason. I didn't have a hand held mixer so I just used a wooden spoon. Also, I didn't see why I had to add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and no vice versa. I reversed the order. I skipped the dried fruit. I never heard of banana nut bread with dried fruit. I liked the result. It was not dry at all. My bananas were very ripe so they added a lot of moisture which was good for the batter consistency. All in all, I think this is a nice, fluffy, not dry, good-tasting banana nut bread. It was well-received. the only caveat I have is to watch the baking time. do not overbake! The batter rose to about twice the original height in the pan. That made it look attractive.

This is great!! Thanks for the simple recipe. I substituted whole wheat flour for 1/2 of the flour in the recipe and added a little corn starch to help the gluten loss on the last batch. Result, cooking time was reduced to 1 hour, bread did not rise quite as much but looks and tastes wonderfull (wife says better) just the same.

I expected a dense moist loaf and instead got something yummy that rose like bread. I made one loaf and one set of muffins. Half the recipe makes 12, cook for 35 minutes.

i am not a baker. i don't have a mixer, so i used a wooden spoon. i don't have a dry measure, i forgot to sift the flour, forgot to add the soda to the flour and added it later. when i put the mixture in the loaf pan it seemed very heavy. lo and behold, it rose beautifully, looked just like a loaf of bread and tastes delicious. it's light and moist. i also halved the recipe. i'll certainly make it again. thanks.

The best we've ever had! Usually we just sit the laptop on the kitchen counter and follow the recipes, but this one was put in the file. It will be used for PTA meetings, tennis practice, evening coffee with friends, Christmas, and anything else I can think of. Awesome recipe!

awesome banana nut bread. I also made a few changes 1) subtract 1/2 a stick of butter and add 1/4 cup of sour cream. 2) add 2 tablespoons of Amaretto liquor 3) you can always add chocolate chips or cranberries. The Bread is great the way it is but if you like to experiment you can try the changes that I made. Higest Praise!!

Ever since I found this recipe about a year and a half ago I have made this Banana bread maybe 25 times. I have taken it to work and shared with a friends and they just love it every time I bring some, I have also made it for work when we have company meals and there is nothing left to take home later. My daughter asks me to make it for for thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't add the nuts to the recipe, every one likes it without the nuts added.

We LOVE the texture of this easy-to-make banana nut bread. To avoid having gooey chunks of mashed bananas in the bread, I pureed the ripe bananas in the food processor before adding them to the batter. Oh yum!

I got this recipe off the internet and took it over to a friend's house with 3 overly ripe bananas. We whipped up this bread and it was awesome! It was a great spongy consistency, moist.....just excellent overall. Give it a try.

This is a basic bread recipe and nothing special or spectacular. The taste is decent however I prefer it with walnuts over pecans. I think it was on the dry side, which is true banana bread, but these days everyone prefer moist cake like breads. I guess I could just not cook it as long and maybe add another banana. Anyhow, accurate recipe.

I don't like banana nut bread a whole lot but this recipe is really really yummy!!!!! I have a 10 year old who does not like anything with nuts or without icing. This recipe is a big hit in our family and friends. I have used this recipe about 4 times from time I got it. Your customer's review and rating helped me alot. Everytime I need a recipe I check your web site first. Thank you!

I used this recipe for my very first time making banana bread, and let me tell you, you'd never know it was the first time I made it after tasting it. It was just as good as I had ever had, and my husband was elated to find out his wife made really good banana bread. This recipe comes out absolutely perfect and it's just right. I halved everything and I used chopped walnuts for my bread and it turned out wonderfully. We had more than enough even after cutting the ingredients. I will definitely make this bread again and I can't wait to make more when I have over-ripe bananas. I'd even consider making this for the holidays, it's that good.

The best banana bread recipe I have ever used and I have used many. Very versitile, I also sometimes add golden raisins or cranberries. I cut the amount of nuts to 1/2 when I add other things. I use bananas that are almost brown for the fullest flavor.

I had yet to find the PERFECT recipe for banana loaf till I came across this recipe! It was easy to follow and it allowed me to make additions such as vanilla extract. I thought it would be good to make since the picture looked yummy and my last few loaves were far from edible. I will be printing this off to use again, and again! THANK YOU!!!
