5/24/10 My daughter in law made this cake for a graduation party. She also had a chocolate cream pie and a turtle cheese cake. Only three people took the Strawberry cake. They all said it was wonderful. The next day everyone wanted the Strawberry cake. There were ohs and ahs all around the table. Everyone wanted the recipe. The best part was this was the very first time she made the cake. You will LOVE it.

Pretty Good I just made this cake tonight, and it was pretty good. I did make some changes. First I did not add a cup of vegetable oil, the water or the four eggs. I followed the direction of the white cake mix. The next time I make this cake I will add more strawberries to the cake mix. As far as the Icing, I followed the instructions. The icing is very light and not sweet. I added more sugar and strawberries. I will add more strawberries the next time I make it. I would recommend only using half of the ingredients if you make cup cakes because this recipe makes a lot of icing. Over all, this is good recipe. I have had sweeter strawberry cakes, but this one was light, moist, and sweet. The reason why I did not give this recipe 4 stars is because I think that there needs to be more strawberries added to the cake batter.

This cake was so wonderful! I made it for my mother-in-law's birthday. The party was at a restaurant that allowed us to bring our own cake. We sent a piece back to the chef, he loved it!! He asked me to make him one for an event they are having next week!!! I made some small changes. I decreased the oil to 3/4 of a cup. I used pre-made cream cheese icing, adding 1/4 cup mashed strawberries, the zest of 1 lime, and a little bit of powdered sugar to thicken it up. I decorated the top with sliced strawberries and kiwi. It was a huge hit!

This was a nice cake, but I did not use 1 cup oil. Even the cake mix suggests 1/3 cup of oil. I used apple sauce in addition to 1/3 cup oil and that seemed to do the trick. There is plenty of moisture in the strawberries too. The icing was very runny. I had to do some doctoring to thicken it up. Over all I would use this recipe as a starting point and amend the ingredients a bit.

I tried this cake for my husbands 30th birthday. I followed the directions for the icing and added the 8oz cream cheese & packet of gelatin that someone else had recommended. It came out way too watery. The cake looked horrible, not to mention it was way too greasy, not moist. The taste was okay, but I would not make this again.

I made this cake for a retirement party. The man who was retiring loves strawberries, and requested a strawberry cake. It was really easy to make. And it was a HUGE hit! The cake was very moist, and the taste of the strawberries was fantastic! Give it a try...I think you'll love it!

Worst cake I have ever made. No wonder this cake is described as being moist - it is not that it is moist - it is oily! I thought there was a misprint but made it as directed - a cup of oil. There was a strawberry taste but I am not sure I would call this cake. My husband never throws anything away but this one - he made an exception. Beware!

I made this cake for Christmas and it was a hit. Everyone commented on how you could taste the real strawberries in it. If you follow the directions and use the right amount of ingredients, you can't go wrong. I followed another reviewers suggestion and used cream cheese and jello in the icing. Wonderful!

This recipe was easy and great. I altered the icing by adding 8 oz of cream cheese and 3 oz of strawberry gelatin. AWESOME!! Great moist cake recipe with lots of flavor
