4 out of 5A little tweakDecember 21, 2011

Great base recipe BUT I decided to give it a slight tweak. So here's what I did. To the recipe 1 4oz bar of Bakers German Chocolate 3 TBSP STRONG coffee 6 TBSP Butter In a glass bowl, Microwave 1 minute, stir, microwave another 30 secs, stir-repeat until mixture is smooth. Cool 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup sugar Whisk until blended. Add two eggs and again whisk to blend. 1/4 tsp each of cinnamon, salt and baking soda (I goofed and added soda instead of baking powder probably be better with the baking powder but still dense and good!) 3/4 cup flour 1/2 cup nuts (if wanted, I didn't have any) Mix well, let set a minute while you butter a 8 inch pan, dust with cocoa and bake at 325 for 25 minutes. Mixture will take a little longer to bake due to the coffee, so extend time by five minutes, checking ofter with a tooth pick in the center...easy to dry these out so eyeball it!

Love these, very very easy and very very fudgy which is what I prefer with brownies. I only had semisweet chocolate chunks so I reduced the sugar some to make up for this. I upped the chocolate in the melted mixture because it didn't taste chocolatey enough for me. I also threw in a handful of mini chocolate chips before backing because I am a chocolate fanatic. I am in love. My first ever home made brownies and I like better than box by far and I know it doesn't have a lot of stuff I can't pronounce in it.

These were the first brownies I've ever made and I found it an easy recipe. First attempt I didn't feel was quite right, so I now double the amont of chocolate and this suits me very well!

Fantastic brownie recipe! If someone says they aren't good, they didn't do something right. Quick and easy on the stove top. Let them cook a full 25 minutes or more. I suggest you check them with a toothpick or knife in the middle. They have turned out just delicious every time. I've bookmarked it as a favorite. Thank you for sharing!

These are the best brownies I've ever made. Much better than any box. Very cakey and chocolately. I didn't have unsweetened chocolate so I used two handfuls of semi-sweet chips and reduced the sugar to half a cup and they came out beautifully! Excellent!
