Although I forgot to cream the butter before adding the liquid ingredients, all went well. I am very impressed with the taste and texture of the finished product. Next Christmas, I plan to use bourbon to make one of these and to use maple liqueur to make one of these as well. I think those may both work well.

Decided to try this cake for my Hanukkah party, not only was it simple to make, but the results were outstanding! I will never buy another rum cake again! It was moist and so flavorful and elegantly simple. I used Duncan Hines Moist yellow cake mix, 1 cup of Eggnog and 1/4 cup of Meyers Dark Rum. Prepared it in a bunt pan and used confectioners sugar on the top to finish it. I will be making this cake for my holiday party at work and it will be coming with me for dessert on Christmas. This one is a classic and will now be part of my annual dessert traditions!
