If your using the 9 by 13 pan, I used 2-8oz. cream cheese. I don't think the 1 is enough to be able to really have the cream cheese come through. Also you can use alot less powdered sugar to your taste. I used about 1 cup for the 2-8oz cream cheese. It turned out perfect! Absolutely love this recipe!! Great for gatherings.

Great except for pan sizeNovember 25, 2010 By FatherOfAsh
Trying this recipe as is in the 9x13 pan made for very thin layers. Other than that, this was just like the dessert I have eaten in the past. Doubling the recipe works a bit better for a really deep dish, and using a 7x11 with the recipe as is worked out reasonably well for me.

this is a ""classic"" but it has been passed down to me a little different. butter and flour mixed, pressed in pan topped with at least a cup of chopped pecans, and bake until light brown. Mix choco & vanilla pudding together with 3 cups cold milk. layer on top of cooled crust. Mix 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 cups cool whip and 8oz soft cream cheese. Whip until smooth and layer on top of pudding. Add more chopped pecans to the top and ENJOY!!! So easy its sinful

But, just as another person said, the whipped cream amount isn't right. I have this recipe with slightly different amounts and it calls for only 1 cup of whipped cream. My recipe also varied in the amounts of some other ingredients but why quibble.

    Error in recipe?February 10, 2010 By toy344
I tasted this recipe at a potluck. It was wonderful. However, I believe there is an error in this online recipe. It calls for 32 ounces of cool whip. I made it and put in far less cool whip, but the cool whip taste seemed to dominate all the other layers. What is the correct amount?

I served this for Thanksgiving, and it was a big hit. The cream cheese and pudding layers work very well together. I will definitely be serving this again.

My mother-in-law made this for Easter and I have been enjoying a small slice every day since. I am very sad today because I ate the last portion. I had to come down and print the recipe because I can't imagine going to bed without my sweet treat. This is a must have. I am going to make it to take to Bunco tomorrow at church. Rocki
