I'm not going back to my cocoa recipe! I thought I made a really good chocolate pie until I tried this recipe. I didn't have whole milk so I used half canned milk with 2%. Also didn't have salt free butter. I cut the salt amount to 1/8 teaspoon, spooned it into a delicious cooked pie crust. The rest is history! You do not need but one cup of whipping cream to make a great pie. I think it would be overwhelmed with two cups.

I have never made chocolate Pie before and decided to try this one. Had no problems with it and it came out perfect. I did however change the flour into cornstarch, using a total of 1/3 cup cornstarch (after looking at other recipes). It was great!

I have tried to make this recipe 3 TIMES already! I always end up with cooked milk and egg whites! I even had a friend help me with it and we still ended up with just cooked milk and egg. I wasted milk and eggs. I now use Tyler Florence recipe only!

The nice thing about this recipe is if you are doing a complicated 4-5 course meal, you can rely on this recipe being the most fun part, and it is forgiving: I once put the pie in the freezer right off the stove by mistake, realized mistake 2 hours later and transferred to the refrigerator. No problem, came out great. I once put double the flour because I couldn't remember if I already put it in - no problem came out great... For V day, the store had really awful looking graham shells - so I served just the pie filling in molds with the whipped cream and other choco-decorative goodies on top. No problem, it was great. (I use Ghiradelli choco squares.)

This pie turned out great, however I did make a few changes. I used 6 tbsp of flour and omitted the cornstarch. Instead of using milk I used evaporated milk, and once all ingredients where mixed I added an addtional 2 tbsps of sugar the filling was not sweet enough for me. I refrigerated the pie overnight and it set up perfect. I will make this one again.
