Carolina Slaw
5 out of 5Yummy SlawSeptember 17, 2011

I love Carolina Pulled Pork and this accompanies it wonderfully! I can't stand mayo and was thrilled to find this recipe. Even people who prefer ""traditional slaw"" made with mayo can't help but enjoy the tang and sweetness of it. The best part is making it the night before so you can give your smoker the attention it needs.

I just made this coleslaw and it's so light and delicious! It beats the Mayo versions by far! I added 1 fresh squeezed lime juice to it and black pepper for a spicer and zesty taste. I will definitely be making this coleslaw again!

Best. Coleslaw. Ever. I just made this for the fourth time so far this summer. I now have my Yankee husband and neighbors hooked on it. We will never eat that gloppy creamy stuff again. I double the mustard and celery seed and also add an extra healthy splash of vinegar.

Tripled the recipe but cut back some on the amount of liquids. It was a hit at a veterans picnic lunch meeting. Everyone wanted to take a little home and many asked for the recipe. Doing it again for the 4th of July at the American Legion picnic. Really great with the pulled pork sandwiches.

The beauty of this recipie is that you can add subtract adjust for personal taste, or what you have on hand. I didn't have any bell peppers or celery seed,so I used real celery, skipped the peppers.I also doubled the vinegar because the head of cabbage we had was HUGE. Left the sugar at 1 cup for a little more tang.Fabulous!!

I've been making this for 6 years--it goes great with a pig roast. When I bring it to parties people always ask for the recipe and assume that it must be an old family secret recipe, not something I have to come back and find online. I usually increase the mustard and celery seed, and use some red bell pepper as well for color.

I made this coleslaw for a family get together and now I can't get out of making it. I left out the onion (I personally can't stand raw onion), but no one else seemed to notice at all. I also substituted a small amount of green cabbage for red cabbage just for a little extra color.

Very good, I shared it with friends and they were very impressed too. I substituted the sugar with 1/2 cup of SPLENDAŽ Brown Sugar Blend & it worked great.
