Crockpot Chicken Barbecue

I didn't have any Worchestershire on hand, so I omitted it. Used Sucanat for the sugar (all I had) and it gave it a lovely smokey flavor. Also doubled the recipe, using 2c of ketchup. Made tons of sauce - almost wishing I could do something else with it, as it's way too much for the chicken itself. Chicken came out moist and flavorful after 4hrs, and the breasts were still partially frozen when I put them in the crockpot. Will definitely make this again, but will tweak the ingredients further to add a bit more depth (perhaps with some cocoa).

I just tasted it for the first time, sooooo good! I doubled the recipe for my family but I only used 2 cups of ketchup instead of 3 because one of the reviews said it was a little too ketchupy. Oh and I too did not have cider vinegar, so I used balsamic. DELICIOUS!! I can't wait to serve it to the fam.!!! P.S. I used the suggested amount of red pepper flakes and it is pretty spicey, I love it but for those of you who are sensitive, you might want to cut it in half! :)

Very delicious recipe. My husband and a friend of ours loved it. I doubled the recipe, and I put 3 cups of ketchup in it, but I think next time I will use less - it was a little too ketchup-y tasting. I also didn't have any cider vinegar, and from another review, I just used white vinegar, I think it came out fine. Makes a lottt of sauce! Recommended!

I made Crockpot Chicken Barbecue for the first time yesterday, and I have to say that it was VERY easy to make and delicious. I doubled the recipe and used 5 chicken breasts - although doubling the recipe calls for 3 cups of ketchup, I only used two. After cooking on high for 4 hours, I shredded the chicken and turned the crockpot on low for 1 hour. It was tangy with just a little spice. After sitting in the refrigerator overnight, it has even more flavor. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something easy to make!

Tripled the recipe and used with 4lbs chicken thighs. Browned first with salt, pepper, chili powder, and cayenne. Chicken was ready after 2.5 hours on high. Removed chicken from bones and shredded and returned to sauce for 20 minutes on low. Highly recommended !!

This crockpot chicken barbecue is awesome! The only thing that is recommended to help enhance the flavor a bit more is to make sure that after you cook the chicken in the sauce for the 3-4 hours, that you pull the chicken apart and let the pulled chicken cook for a little while longer to allow the flavor of the sauce to settle into the inner part of the chicken a bit more. The content of the sauce is perfect as is. I didn't have the cider vinegar available at the house, but used distilled white vinegar instead and it came out just fine. My husband to be loved it and now, I've doubled the recipe and am cooking it for my parents since they are visiting. This is really an awesome picnic food since it is so easy to make! Possibly great for family reunions.

This recipe was delicious! I made it for my family and they loved it! I modified it slightly by changing worcestershire sauce for A1 steak sauce. You might want to double the recipe because it only makes enough for 2 adults and 1 teenager.

I didn't have any worcestershire on hand, but when I tried the sauce without it, it just tasted too much like plain ketchup. I decided to just had a dash or so of cinnamon to give it some flavor and boy, was it delicious! I'm going to use that sauce for many things! Chicken turned out very tender. Awesome recipe!

My husband and I made this, but subsituted pork for chicken and it was really good. My husband is from NC and added some honey and just plain yellow mustard to the sauce and it made it AMAZING. Add a couple tablespoons of each. YUM!

Cooked this tonight for dinner, and needless to say there is none left!! My husband went crazy for it. Tastes alot like the kind of sauce they use on ribs. Will be making again.

I don't cook & I made this for dinner... Even got compliments on how tasty the sauce was. So, this is a definite thumbs-up recipe that even a 'non-cooker' can make!

This is a recipe that everyone in my family enjoys. The only thing I've changed is that I double it, because people always want seconds. I agree with the reviewer that said it's not a ""traditional"" bbq sauce. But, that doesn't make it any less tasty. Because I doubled the recipe, we had enough left over for sandwiches the next day, and it still tasted great.

I tried this recipe on the spur-of-the-moment and it was a huge hit at my house. My wife saved the left over sauce and said that we should eat this every week! Even our 13-month old daughter loved it (in small pieces, of course)!

I made this recipe for my husband's birthday gathering. Everyone thought it was great and it was very easy. Don't expect a traditional bbq sauce with this recipe, it is more of a tangy ketchup taste, but it was still excellent.

I wanted to make barbecued chicken sandwiches for dinner tonight and was thinking of just pouring a bottle of premade sauce over the chicken and let it cook. I'm glad I tried this recipe, instead. It was really good, my husband and I agreed. The only change I made was to sear the breasts in a skillet before adding them to the crock pot. I don't know that it made it any better, so I would highly recommend this recipe, just as it's written. Thanks for sharing it!

I made this for some very picky eaters, including my husband who doesn't like barbecue. Everyone went nuts over it. The sauce was perfect and the chicken just fell apart; it was so tender. I'll be making this often.

I made this recipe for a football party and everyone raved about it. Many people asked for the recipe. I made the recipe as is with no adjustments in the ingredients and it is perfect!!!
