Beverly's Crockpot Pork Chops
3 out of 5Turning it off might have avoided the brown sludgeFebruary 03, 2012

I had to leave the slow cooker on for a few extra hours (work, work out, commute). Crockpot recipies I've used in the past handled this well, but this turned into an unappetizing looking pot of brown. The meat came out mostly moist and worth eating, the stuffing was edible, the soup tastes decent on pork, but the result was really too gross to bother trying again.

I'm a picky eater and I was fairly uneasy about this recipe but since I'm trying to give new things a try I thought I'd at least make it once. I followed the recipe as directed with no changes except to make fewer chops, I added the box stuffing also. This was absolutely wonderful, I will definatly be adding this to my book of favorites. Simple to make and very delicious. Thanks for sharing.

Great easy recipe although it might have been a tad salty. Did 3/4 cup of water which seemed like the perfect amount. Next time I'm gonna add more veggies though ! thanks for the recipe !

I decided to add Cream of mushroom instead of the celery and used a 1/2 a cup of dry white cooking wine instead of a 1/4 cup of water. You have to understand, most, not all, pork falls apart in the crock pot. I don't know why but it does. Country ribs don't fall apart but thin pork chops do. This didn't fall apart either and I set it on HIGH for 3 1/2 hours. It was pretty good.
5 out of 5Much Better with more flavorSeptember 09, 2009

I used Red onions and three cloves of chopped garlic. Instead of putting the pepper on top of the mixture I put in on the meat with some crushed rosemary and seasoning salt. Then instead of adding a 1/4 of water. I used a half cup of beer. It turned out amazing. The meat was done and moist and the stuff came out as if it can out of a Thanksgiving Turkey. For a side dish I had mashed potatoes and Stemmed Asparagus which was a prefect sides. For a wine I went with a Sauvignon Blanc wine. It was a excellent and everyone enjoyed. Don't be afraid to turn something into a supreme meal by experimenting.
4 out of 5Stuffing a little soggy but good flavorMarch 25, 2009

Soggy stuffing doesn't bother me though, that may make a difference to you. I lined the bottom of the crockpot with carrots, used a package of stovetop stuffing and used 3/4 cup water. I would suggest mixing a bit of water with the stuffing mix instead of just dumping the mix over the chops - I had pockets of stuffing that was still completely dry. On the whole though, this was good and I'd make it again.

Tuesdays are crock pot nights at my house, usually a fun and interesting culinary adventure each and every week. Honestly, this was a truly shocking crock pot meal. Aside from being pretty much flavorless, somehow the pork chops actually disintegrated into the glop of stuffing. Well, except for the bones. The bones stayed somewhat intact, with shards of them scattered throughout the glop. Even my teenage daughter looked at me with great sorrow, or was it fear, in her eyes as she told me it was...a little dry... and she really wasn't very hungry.... Never, ever, again.

This recipe was very easy to make which is a positive and they were tender and fell apart however the meat was pretty dry and flavorless. Definitely needs more spices and/or seasonings. I don't think I'll try this one again.
1 out of 5Surprisingly very dry...January 07, 2009

After reading the reviews on this recipe, I added extra water, used stuffing on top.and used boneless pork instead of bone in. The flavor was excellent, but mushy stuffing and really dry pork. I did add a little extra pork than the recipe called for , so maybe thats why it was dry, but not sure.
5 out of 5Easy and good!November 07, 2008

I used the stuffing and 2/3 cup of water because of what previous reviews had said. The pork was tender and moist which is huge to me because every other time I have made pork it has been very dry. I did it on low and it was done in 6 1/2 -7 hours. This was super easy to put together and very good! My husband says it's definitely a keeper!

I would recommend the stuffing - i used stove top without a season pack - it was tasty - I would also recommend boneless or cut the bone out of the pork chop - because when the pork fall off the bone, you don want to be picking through the delicious meal for bones. EASY AND WILL pass on

These pork chops could hardly be called ""moist,"" but it was generally a good recipe. I probably used 2/3 cup of water based on the other reviews. The stuffing turned out fine...it was pretty mushy, but I expected it to be that way. So I don't really know if more water or less water (if you don't want mushy stuffing) would be appropriate. I'd probably make it again if there weren't so many other recipes to try first.
4 out of 5Kids love stuffing!October 23, 2007

The best part of this recipe is the stuffing! My kids could take or leave the pork chops--although I thought it was a great option for a pork recipe--but they all LOVED the stuffing. And, I have to agree with them. The stuffing had great flavor and moistness. It reminded me of the flavorful stuffing that comes out of a turkey, versus the stuffing that is cooked separately in a dish. Another reviewer mentioned that more water was necessary, and I can see how that could be helpful, although I used just the 1/4 cup recommended and it was fine. This recipe was easy, tasty and a nice change from beef and chicken. It's definitely a keeper!
